Sling TV offers three different introductory packages—Sling Orange, Sling Blue, and Sling Orange + Blue—and they vary significantly in terms of their channels, add-ons, and how many devices you can use them with at once. Here’s everything you need to know about Sling Orange.

What is Sling Orange?

Sling Orange was once considered Sling TV’s most basic package, and it cost a little less than Sling Blue. While that’s no longer the case (both now cost $25 per month), still feels like the inferior option. It comes with fewer channels and no local programming, but it’s the cheapest way to watch ESPN online.

Sling Orange cost

Both of Sling TV’s introductory packages, Sling Orange and Sling Blue, cost $25 per month. Sling Orange + Blue, a combination package, costs $40 per month.

Sling Orange devices

No matter which package you select, you can access Sling TV via Amazon Fire Stick and Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Xbox One, Google Chromecast, and iOS and Android devices. (You can find a complete list of Sling TV compatible devices and specifications here.)

However, how many devices you can use with Sling TV varies depending on your package. Here’s how it breaks down.

  • Sling Orange = 1 device
  • Sling Blue = 3 devices
  • Sling Orange + Blue = 4 devices

Sling Orange channels

Sling Orange comes with roughly 28 channels, but only six of those are exclusive to the package (meaning they’re not also featured in Sling Blue): ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, Disney Channel, ACC Network Extra, and FreeForm. That suite of ESPN channels and the Disney Channel are what makes Sling Orange so appealing, but it’s a little discouraging just how little you get with this package. You can’t even access local channels with Sling Orange.

Note: Your channel lineup may vary slightly depending on your location. You’ll want to use this link to show the Sling Orange channels available in your area. For the purposes of this Sling Orange guide, I’m using the ZIP code 20003 for Washington, D.C. (Here’s a complete guide to Sling TV channels.)

Sling Orange vs. Sling Blue

Sling Blue trumps Sling Orange in every measurable category. It offers more channels (42 to 28), more devices you can use at once, and local channels. The following channels are included in Sling Blue but not Sling Orange: BET, Fox and Fox Sports (select markets), FS1 and FS2, FX and FXX, Local Now, National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild, NBC and NBC Sports (select markets), NBCSN, Nick Jr., NFL Network, TruTV, and USA.

If you’re not a sports fan or can just live without ESPN, you’re going to want Sling Blue. To get the best of both, you can always upgrade to Sling Orange + Blue, which costs $40 per month.

No matter which package you select, there are a few channels simply not offered by Sling TV. Those include the CW, CBS, and ABC in most markets.
