If you’ve ever heard the Marina and the Diamonds song “I Am Not a Robot,” you’re probably familiar with the bit that goes “But inside, you’re just a little baby”—with the high-pitched “baby” sounding unnervingly similar to Jackson’s signature “hehe.”
Well, with “I Am Not a Robot” available to throw on top of any TikTok video, user Leticia Gomes decided to combine that song with a truncated MJ makeup tutorial culminating in a hehe/baby Michael Jackson transformation reveal.
With Leticia’s video snagging a million likes in a week, it wasn’t long before the concept caught on. Other users shared their own takes on Jackson’s look and various signature moves, creating a meme that, sure, doesn’t actually vary too much from post to post and yet it is so easy to keep watching hours upon hours of them.
While there’s no singular hashtag to find all these MJ videos yet, for the time being, a lot of users joining the party are adding #michaeljackson and #hehe to their TikTok vids.
