There’s nothing more irresistible than a good sale. Amazon offers its Prime Day event for shoppers to score on deals, but it’s also introduced something lesser-known that offers reduced prices all year round: Amazon Outlet. Here’s a quick primer on how Amazon outlet works.

What is Amazon Outlet?

Overstock is also a genuine issue for Amazon. We have no idea how it possibly keeps all of the zillions of orders they get every minute in line, but like every other retailer, they need a way to clear out stuff they have too much of. It’s not publicized much like their other sections, but Amazon Outlet is very much an important part of the Amazon family of brands.

Of course, if something is overstock, there’s probably a reason for it. There’s a not insignificant chance that its cheap, plastic, and ultimately not terribly necessary. However, just like a real outlet mall, occasionally, you can find a few diamonds amidst an ocean of crummy sand.

How does Amazon Outlet Work?

Outlet offers thousands of discounted items in just about every category you can think of. Here are a few ways to shop around:

1. Search Super Discounts

For the hardcore deal hunter, check out the Super Discounts section, which offers a whole lot of things under $10. We can’t promise that all of it is useful (there is, for instance, a twerking bear), but deal hunters know you have to sift through a lot of trash to find a treasure sometimes.

2. Browse Best Sellers

You can also go gawk at their Best Sellers section which is more of a reflection on the weirdness of human beings than anything else.

3. Filter by category

Sometimes, it’s easier if you break down your search into categories and subcategories such as “Kitchen” or “Electronics.”

4. Shop around

When in doubt, shop around. Like Prime Day, getting the good stuff simply requires some legwork. Luckily it’s not actual legwork, and can be done from the comfort of your desktop, tablet, or phone.
