People were quick to remind him that he was the head of an investment bank amid the financial crisis.

Former Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Bankfein is apparently not a fan of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) winning the New Hampshire primary.

Around the time that Sanders was named the winner, the CEO—who was the head of Goldman Sachs amid the 2008 financial crisis—called the Vermont senator “just as polarizing as Trump” and predicted that, if elected, he would “ruin our economy.”

“If Dems go on to nominate Sanders, the Russians will have to reconsider who to work for to best screw up the US,” Blankfein tweeted. “Sanders is just as polarizing as Trump AND he’ll ruin our economy and doesn’t care about our military. If I’m Russian, I go with Sanders this time around.”

Blankfein’s assertion that Sanders would “ruin our economy” caught the eye of a number of people on Twitter, who reminded him that he was the head of Goldman Sachs during the financial crisis and received a bailout from the government.

Even Feliz Shakir, Sanders’ campaign manager, responded to Blankfein, tweeting: “this is what panic from Wall Street elite looks and sounds like.”

This isn’t the first time Blankfein has weighed in on the 2020 Democratic nomination process.

Late last year he drew criticism for tweeting a racist joke about Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), saying that “maybe tribalism is just in her DNA,” clearly mocking Warren over her claims of Native American heritage.
