After five months, a lawsuit brought against YouTube personality Poppy and her producer, Titanic Sinclair, has been dismissed.
Back in April, a lawsuit was filed by artist Mars Argo (real name Brittany Sheets) alleging that Sinclair (real name Corey Mixter), whom she previously collaborated with and was in a relationship with, lifted the look and feel of their videos to create Poppy (real name Moriah Pereira) without her consent. Sheets also alleged Mixter was abusive during and after their relationship.
Poppy responded to the allegations in May, claiming that she herself is a survivor or abuse and calling Sheets’ lawsuit a “publicity campaign.”
On Sept. 14, District Judge Manuel L. Real dismissed the case, writing: “The court having been advised by the counsel for the parties that the above-entitled action has been settled; it is therefore ordered that this action is hereby dismissed without costs and without prejudice to the right, upon good cause shown within 45 days, to reopen the action if the settlement is not consummated.” Sheets’ attorney stated that the parties had reached a “settlement in principle.”
Court documents did not disclose the exact nature of the settlement.
