Rihanna once responded to fellow pop star Ciara when the “Goodies” singer said on E! that Rihanna had been rude to her in person. Big mistake.
“My bad ci,” Rihanna responded. “did I 4get to tip u?”
9) The time she owned CBS
CBS in 2014 decided to pull an NFL ad that featured Rihanna’s “Run This Town.” Then the network tried to use it the next week. She was upset about the back and forth, and the network quietly edited her voice out of the promo. A classic “keep my name out of your mouth” moment.
She tweeted: “CBS you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday? NO, Fuck you! Y’all are sad for penalizing me for this.”
She was entirely right, by the way. The NFL pulled the ad because in 2009 Chris Brown physically assaulted her. In 2014 the league was buried in domestic violence news about its employees and felt like Rihanna’s music hit too close to home. CBS essentially victim-blamed Rihanna, and she wasn’t here for that nonsense.
