Lizard Squad, the hacking group that earned international infamy after taking down Xbox Live and Playstation Network late last year, has had their web servers seized by the FBI.
But the group promises it’s just a temporary setback.
Lizard Squad ran two domains, shenron.su and lizardstresser.su, as well as an Internet Relay Chat server on the Darkode servers. Visiting either of those sites now results in an error message showing the law enforcement offices behind the raid.
Darkode, an infamous cybercrime forum, was seized on Tuesday by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with a broad swath of international partners. Darkode, U.S. Attorney David J Hickton said, “represented one of the gravest threats to the integrity of data on computers in the United States and around the world and was the most sophisticated English-speaking forum for criminal computer hackers in the world.”
Similarly, Lizard Squad’s two servers went down last night, but their domains are not in the feds’ possession, according to a Lizard Squad member who goes by the name “Antichrist.” He claimed that the backend of the site stayed online after the raid, and that the group plans to have their websites back online in the next 24 hours.
“You can seize all of our servers and go after our friends, but you will never catch us,” Antichrist told the Daily Dot. “Keep trying, though; it’s amusing.”
