The best apps for visiting national parks

It wasn’t long ago that a trip to a national park meant packing books, paper maps, a guide to help identify plants and wildlife, and tools like a compass. Now apps can help with all these things. 

Perhaps the best national parks app for the United States is the free National Parks by National Geographic guide, which has the high production values we have come to expect from National Geographic. It has lush photography, well-written text and is easy to use, thanks to well-designed menus.
