When his daughter was forced to self-isolate in her room for 14 days amid coronavirus fears, this dad shared every meal with her—from a safe distance.

CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

The coronavirus’ continued spread has many of us sequestered behind locked doors, with little but our screens to entertain us. That is where Twitter user @miabongo comes in.

Mia was recently traveling in Italy. When she returned home, she was required to self-isolate for two weeks. Since she is living with her parents, that meant Mia couldn’t leave her bedroom. For 14 days.

Thankfully, her hero of a father came through. Over the next two weeks, the absolute treasure of a man shared every single meal with her. From the safety of the hallway—at least 6 feet away, as the CDC recommends—obviously. And because this is the age of social media, Mia recorded the experience and posted it for the world to enjoy. Which we absolutely have. In the nearly 24 hours since the video appeared on Twitter, it has earned more than 461,000 likes and 84,000 retweets.

As the video—and her self-isolation—progresses, Mia makes her way through a variety of well-balanced meals. Also, can we note that it appears that her papa prepared every one of them?

Mia chows her way through a slew of delicious-looking meals, from soups and sandwiches to yogurt and fruit, hummus, veggies, and salads. Through each of them, her dad remains seated at his little station in the hall.

As their shared meals continue, Mia’s father even decides to spice things up. Midway through the video, he added candles and, later, flowers. Placed on a table between Mia’s door and his improvised table, they add to the ambiance.

The days progress, and the set-up gets gradually more elaborate. Then, just when you might think the video can’t get any more uplifting, Mom gets back. All of the meals toward the end of Mia’s video were shared with both her parents, cozily seated a safe distance away.

To the delight of all involved, Mia was eventually able to leave her self-isolation. The nearly two-minute video concludes with a shot of a real, actual dinner table. Seated across the way are her parents, who grace the camera with a greeting and cheery wave.

Mia did not immediately return the Daily Dot’s request for comment.
