If you’re a fan of reading or creating comics, then you are about to have a favorite new app–and it’s being helmed by industry legend Alan Moore.

Moore, the creator of comics like Watchmen and V For Vendetta, is joining a team of other renowned publishers to launch a new app called Electricomics. The app, which does not yet have a release date, is an open-source creation that will not only allow you to read some great titles, but also create your own stories and characters.

“With Electricomics, we are hoping to address the possibilities of comic strips in this exciting new medium, in a way that they have never been addressed before. Rather than simply transferring comic narrative from the page to the screen, we intend to craft stories expressly devised to test the storytelling limits of this unprecedented technology,” Moore said.

So far, Moore’s title Big Nemo is planned as part of the comics available to read. Other titles include Red Horse by Garth Ennis and Peter Snejberg and Sway by Leah Moore and John Reppion.

Not much has been revealed about the creation aspect of the app, though we do know it will be developed using Github.
