People have a lot of feelings about Rep. Mark Stanford's choice of what to give out on Halloween.

Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) is about to ruin the night for a lot of trick-or-treaters this Halloween.

Instead of handing out candy like most people, the South Carolina Republican apparently has something else in mind: pocket Constitutions.

You know, what every kid wants on the night of the year when you go door-to-door expecting candy.

“Happy Halloween. Accordingly, Pocket Constitutions are at the ready for today’s trick-or-treaters,” the lawmaker wrote on Wednesday afternoon.

Perhaps Sanford isn’t in the holiday spirit because voters picked a more pro-Trump candidate over him in a Republican primary election earlier this year.

And who knows, maybe this is all just an odd attempt at Halloween humor?

Either way, the lawmaker’s apparent decision to hand out pocket Constitutions was relentlessly mocked.

It’s hard to be against educating young people, but it’s Halloween. Just stick to candy.
