Some neighbors are friendly while others are downright rude. This concept doesn’t just extend to in real life neighbors but “number neighbors” as well, apparently.

People are texting individuals who have similar numbers as theirs, just one digit off, to get to know their number neighbor–the results are hilarious, sad, and even a mix of the two.

‘Number neighbor’ memes

Some, like Twitter user @isnortnyquil, learned that not all number neighbors will greet you with a warm reception. “There’s a lot of weird people on this earth this is a work phone don’t text me again or i’ll call the police,” his number neighbor threatened.

A lot of number neighbors turned out to be people from the same family, which makes total sense considering many families get their cellphones together.

Some lucky people did hit it off with their number neighbor, though. One pair shared some meme potato casserole together as a digitized “welcome to the neighborhood,” while another claims to have ended racism.
