The Internet has a well-documented dark side, but it’s also home to relentless positivity, nauseating platitudes, and insipid affirmations. Instagram’s “Unspirational” is the antidote.
Like the demotivational posters meme before it—which spoofed inane corporate aphorisms with phrases like “Believe in Yourself, Because the Rest of Us Think You’re an Idiot”—the feed is a reliable font of bitter, ice-cold, soul-shredding truths that you may as well just accept.
Are these things hard to hear? Of course. Still, someone had to say them.
