The developer behind Transmissions – Element 120, a fan-made adventure based in the Half-Life universe, is asking fans to help get the game on Steam.

Transmissions – Element 120 takes place after the conclusion of Half-Life 2: Episode 2, released in October 2007, and represents a substantial visual overhaul of Half-Life 2.

Transmissions – Element 120 also introduces a new type of weapon that allows the player to survive long falls and leap over buildings. This sounds like a derivation of Half-Life 2’s gravity gun, which allowed the player to pick up and push objects by way of solving puzzles.

The developer of Transmissions – Element 120 states on the game’s YouTube page that it took two years to create the game. Anyone who wants to try the mod can download it for free on the game’s website. Users require an installed copy of Source SDK Base 2007, software used to develop mods for Valve’s Source game engine, to run Transmissions – Element 120.

Fans for years have clamored for a sequel to Half-Life 2. Whether or not Valve Software is working on Half-Life 3 has become a long-running meme in gamer culture, with gamers creating misleading and false information to fuel speculation that the game is currently in development.

Fan projects like Transmissions – Element 120, and the Half-Life 1 update Black Mesa are as close as gamers have gotten in eight years to a new Half-Life game. Redditors have been throwing their weight and support behind Transmissions – Element 120, in another demonstration of the continued hunger for a new Half-Life game.

YouTuber TeeDeL has uploaded a playthrough of the first level of Transmissions – Element 120, if you’d like to watch the new expansion in action.

The developer of Transmissions – Element 120 is courting votes for the game on Steam: Greenlight, which could lead to the game being made available for download on Steam. If you would like to cast a vote in favor, you can visit the Steam page for Transmissions – Element 120.
