Not such a good boy after all.

Racism Watchdog is an account on Twitter that “sniffs out racism and barks when he finds it,” commonly roasting tweets that reek of racism or prejudice with woofs, barks, and growls. But the viral sensation’s spin-off account, @Racismdogowners, is being accused of racism by some users.

The scrutiny came after a jab at notorious Black conservative Candace Owens. In an Aug. 17 tweet, Owens celebrated the one-year anniversary of her first upload on YouTube.

“I feel tremendously grateful and humbled by this journey. Thank you to all of you who have supported me since this very first upload,” she wrote. In just a year’s time, she’s garnered cosigns from the likes of Donald Trump and Kanye West for being unapologetically conservative while Black, heralded for her “free-thinking” and color-blind political savvy. In the video, she explains her “coming out story,” which substitutes homosexuality for being right-leaning.

In response, @Racismdogowners was quick to push back on the tweet saying “I don’t see myself as a victim. Oh btw here’s my video where I compare coming out as gay to coming out as conservative because they’re totes the same.”

The account continued, “I have a ton of issues with black conservatives that get large platforms – which is a thread for another time – but this stands out for how cringeworthy it is and the number of replies that thought this was a genuinely good video.” Responses that pointed out the irony of an anti-racist account advocating for the silencing of a Black person because of their political stance flooded in.

Although @Racismdogowners then went on to post a thread attempting to justify the tweets, it isn’t the first time that the account has found itself in hot water.

In June, the account set its sights on a Black woman who was arrested for attacking passengers on a bus after saying that she hated white people. For the now-deleted tweet, the account faced backlash from users who suggested that the self-proclaimed anti-racism account was a proponent of “reverse racism,” causing the account to go on hiatus for “self-care.” The account is now active again.

While the racism doggo may have his paw on some fundamentally racist tweets, it seems he may have ironically missed the boat on grasping a full understanding of how racism takes form in practice. “Reverse racism” is not a thing.
