Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) was stoic during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night, igniting a flurry of tweets from people who found her to be extremely relatable.

The New York lawmaker was captured on camera during Trump’s speech, looking clearly like she did not agree with what he was saying during the speech.

Following the speech, after Twitter began posting GIFs and pictures of the popular lawmaker, she responded to a Wall Street Journal columnist who said she had a “rare bad night” and was not looking “spirited, warm and original as usual.”

“Why should I be ‘spirited and warm’ for this embarrassment of a #SOTU? Tonight was an unsettling night for our country. The president failed to offer any plan, any vision at all, for our future. We’re flying without a pilot. And I‘m not here to comfort anyone about that fact,” she tweeted.

The New York lawmaker did react and clap when Trump mentioned the record number of women serving in Congress.

Despite the criticism from one columnist, many people on Twitter were here for the lawmaker’s emotions during the speech, which lasted well over an hour on Tuesday night.

Ocasio-Cortez was one of a large number of Democratic women who wore white on Tuesday night to honor the women’s suffrage movement.
