High school track and field is full of accidents. Bad timing at the hurdles could have you plummeting into the ground, and a newbie trying out the javelin could send their spear flying into the stands. But others can only blame their own two feet for screwing up a chance at athletic glory.

Twitter user lexiannc6 (15-year-old Lexi Cornelius) caught 14-year-old friend Makenna Kroge’s massive fail on the track. Even before the race started, Kroge—in lane six—practically nosedives to the floor, which really doesn’t put her in a good place to start. Luckily, she’s fine, but trips again after just getting out of the gates, sealing her last-place finish even as she races into our hearts by gallantly attempting to finish the event.

The best part is when someone from the sidelines goes, “Are you okay honey?” and Kroge just sort of shrugs while charging into her stride. Talk about determination. Or maybe just a powerful urge to dash away from everyone who witnessed her timeless embarrassment.
