Alec Baldwin SNL Donald Trump

Alec Baldwin’s most famous role of the last decade—perhaps his most famous role ever—is to play a caricature of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live. He’s won rave reviews (and an Emmy) for his over-the-top, sneering, idiotic version of the president. Now, Baldwin wants Melania Trump to join in on the fun.

The beleaguered first lady had a rough fashion week as she visited the border, and on Saturday, Baldwin tweeted at her to “come over to the light.”

That wish continues a fantasy from some on the left side of the political aisle that Melania Trump, who must be a better person than her husband they figure, will somehow switch allegiances and make the president look like a fool by leaving him for a better life. Rumors ran rampant that perhaps she had done so when she went missing in the public eye for more than three weeks after undergoing a kidney operation.

But that seems unlikely, especially considering she wore a jacket on her humanitarian trip that read, “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” The first lady’s spokesperson said there was no hidden message on her outerwear, but Donald Trump had a different take, tweeting out, “’I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?’ written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!”

Of course, the president had a tough time spelling his wife’s name recently, so who really knows for sure.

Either way, it sounds like Baldwin will be waiting, tweeting, “We have a chair waiting for you in the @nbcsnl make-up room.”
