These erotic treats might not technically count as porn, but it’s too close.

Does Netflix have porn? Well, technically no. You won’t the type of porn on Netflix that you’d see on Pornhub or Brazzers. But there’s plenty of real-life sex to be enjoyed on the streaming platform.

Since the debut of cinema, people have been arguing over where the line between pornography and art begins and ends. There are countless films that thrive in that gray area, pushing the boundaries of decency in the name of storytelling. And, thanks to Netflix, you can watch many of them the comfort of your home.

Here are the dirtiest movies on Netflix, broken into two categories for your viewing pleasures.

Porn on Netflix: Movies with unsimulated sex

These films feature real-life sex. Not people rubbing merkins on one another or bobbing their heads above laps. Actual real-life sex. One of the things you’ll notice on this list is the films with the most graphic content tend to be sad as hell. Apparently, frowning is one of the things that make a film art instead of pornography.

Starlet (2012)

This drama about a 21-year old who befriends an 85-year-old woman she meets at a yard sale features Dree Hemingway, the great-great-granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway. It also features an actual XXX sex scene, with porn star Zoe Voss acting as the body double. This is a fine indie drama, and if you’re a prude, it’s worth fast forwarding through the sex to catch the whole story.

Nymphomaniac Vol 1 & Nymphomaniac Vol 2 (2013)

Lars von Trier’s controversial experimental drama about a woman with sex addiction is a deeply dark, soul-crushing film. Von Trier actually filmed real porn stars having sex, but then he digitally placed their genitals onto the bodies of actors like Charlotte Gainsbourg or Shia Labeouf. Lars von Trier is a brilliant filmmaker, but his movies are not for general audiences. No amount of sex could make this movie not sad.

Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013)

Of the films featuring unsimulated sex scenes on Netflix, Blue Is the Warmest Colour is easily the best. It’s a legitimately artistic film that features a slow-burn love story between two young women. Starting when our heroine Adéle is 15 and following her through the next decade as she chases an older woman named Emma, this three-hour-long drama is more than just a collection of graphic sex scenes: It’s a rumination on the complications of love that happens to earn its NC-17 rating.

Wetlands (2013)

Eighteen-year-old Helen Memel likes to skateboard, masturbate, and mess with social taboos surrounding her body. After a shaving accident sends her to the hospital, her insane adventures truly begin. This dark comedy has earned an 89-percent fresh ranking on Rotten Tomatoes, thanks to its blend of shock value and sweetness. While the film is graphic, there’s no real simulated sex, until one horrific scene involving four men and a pizza. If you have a strong stomach and a dark sense of humor, this film is highly recommended.

Amorous
(2014)

Swinging, partner-swapping, and polyamory are having a bit of a moment in 2017. People looking to skirt the boundaries of monogamy have more options than ever from apps to dedicated meetup groups. The four young protagonists of Amorous have another solution: move into a cottage together to engage in a few old-fashioned bouts of partner-swapping. At first, the arrangement seems to be working, but when a visitor arrives, things become decidedly complicated. Amorous’ sex scenes are graphic and passionate. The actors aren’t having sex, but there’s enough ambiguity and a unstaged male masturbation scene to qualify here.

Stranger by the Lake (2014)

Graphically sexual films don’t always garner the critical acclaim they might otherwise enjoy without so much nudity, but Stranger by the Lake is a pleasant exception to the rule. Alain Guiraudie won Best Director at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, among other accolades, for this dark look the sexual encounters of a group of gay nude sunbathers in the French countryside. While its sex scenes aren’t numerous, they’re very explicit, including a scene of a man masturbating until completion. Don’t let the graphic sex sway you away from this title. Stranger by the Lake is a high-art thriller.

A Perfect Ending (2012)

No one should go through life without orgasming, let alone a married person. Rebecca is middle-aged, living a privileged life of wealth but stuck in a loveless, sexless marriage. After confiding in two friends that she’s never even had an orgasm, Rebecca is advised to seek out the services of a call-girl named Paris. The two women form a bound that blossoms beyond their sexual encounters into a legitimate friendship, one that helps them both heal from past hurts before new ones arise to complicate their lives. A swirling romance with hot sex scenes and a healthy dose of drama, A Perfect Ending is a soapy pleasure for those seeking erotic drama.

Fragments of Love (2016)

How do you handle your partner’s sexual past? Fragments of Love tries to explore that question with erotic, and occasionally, emotional stirring results. Rodrigo is a composer, plagued by his sense of perfectionism. That changes when he meets Susanna, a mysterious woman who inspires him artistically while also tormenting him with tales of her past sexual exploits. Examining male fragility with heaping helpings of sex scenes thrown in, Fragments of Love is an oddly pertinent film in the age of Tinder. What happens when you find the one and can’t deal with their past?

And They Call It Summer (2012)

This tale of sex addiction is one of the saddest films on this list, but also oddly one of its most graphically sexual. Viewers looking for porn may be frustrated by this art film’s airy examinations of human weakness, but And They Call It Summer is a rewardingly dark tale. Dino has a successful life; he likes his job and his girlfriend Anna loves him and doesn’t mind that he’s significantly older than him. But Dino can’t bring himself to consummate their relationship, unable to have sex with someone he truly loves. Dino is a sex addict and, while he has no problem performing with prostitutes and at sex parties, he can’t get it up with someone he truly loves. Haunted by the idea that his issues are denying Anna pleasure, he sets out on a quest to find her ex’s, hoping one of them will be able to supplement his place in their bedroom. And They Call It Summer doesn’t exactly seem like a film that’s meant to be enjoyed. Yes, it has unsimulated oral sex and graphic scenes of nudity, but at its heart, this film isn’t about celebrating its characters. It’s about looking at a dark corner of the human soul.

Neon Bull (2015)

Iremar works an unglamorous job at the Vaquejadas, a Brazilian rodeo where men on horseback try to catch bulls by grabbing its tail. He’s gifted at caring for the animals, but Iremar dreams of becoming a great designer one day, leaving behind the bulls for carefully sewn patterns of cloth. Thanks to his friendship with an exotic dancer, Iremar finds a way to indulge is artistic desires, but as he sees a booming clothing industry begin to develop in Brazil, he longs for more. Neon Bull has a very loose narrative, focusing more on the characters’ hearts than their long-term story, but it also features the most erotic sex scene involving a pregnant woman in film history. We’ve included it here in the unsimulated sex section as a warning, due to one brief scene of animal husbandry. If you enjoy a slowly building character study along with your sex, Neon Bull will satisfy both of your desires.

Sex and Lucia (2001)

Lucia works as a waitress in Madrid with her boyfriend Lorenzo. When he disappears and leaves a suicide note, she moves to a sparsely populated island to escape. There she meets two people, each running from their past and oddly connected to Lucia’s. Director Julio Medem shows remarkable control directing a story that’s complicated and jarring. Each of its many sex scenes are beautifully shot, genuinely erotic with attention paid to things like foreplay and consent. It even explores kink. But be warned: If you’re watching this movie for a thrill, keep in mind that the second half is very dark—Sex and Lucia is an occasionally sad film, punctuated moments of incredible lust and humor—but it’s worth finishing.

Porn on Netflix: The dirtiest of the rest

These films don’t need to show you actual sex to push the boundaries of what’s allowed on the screen. Oddly enough these films tend to be way more fun than the films that are allowed to show actual sex.

Room in Rome (2010)

A Room in Rome may not feature specifically unsimulated sex, but it’s easily the sexiest film on this list. Equal parts erotic comedy and mildly pretentious art film, this film tells the story of two women having a one-night stand with one another. Between rounds, in bed, the women slowly tell each other about their respective life stories, but the question remains if their stories are as fleeting as their one-night stand. Beautifully directed by Julio Medem, this is the film is far better than its late-night cable premise would lead you to believe.

Y Tu Mamá También (2001)

This erotic comedy is a coming-of-age story that centers around two young men on a road trip with a sexually liberated and unmarried woman. Along the way, there might be some graphic sex. Starring a young Gael Carcia Bernal and directed by Children of Men and Gravity’s Alfonso Cuaron, there’s a great deal of emotional depth to be found in this odd tale of personal growth. Swinging wildly from gross-out humor to erotic drama to a tale of two boys becoming men, it’s hard to pin the film down. Still, the incredible direction and brilliant acting by the three main leads come highly recommended.

Basic Instinct (1992)

Paul Verhoeven shoots sex the way Michael Bay shoots military hardware. Upon its release, Basic Instinct was protested for being deeply sexist and possibly homophobic. At the bare minimum, it’s certainly sexist. It’s also a hell of a lot of fun in an absurd, trashy noir way. From its infamous “fuck of the century” scene to Sharon Stone’s legendary interrogation, Basic Instinct is one of the premier sexual thrillers of the ’90s for a reason. Yes, it’s trash. But it’s incredible trash.

Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (1996)

With a title like Kama Sutra, you may be expecting far more porn in this title than you’ll actually find. Rather than an over-the-top sex fest, Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love is a heartfelt romantic drama that punctuates its story with absurdly hot love scenes. Set in 16th-century India, Kama Sutra follows the romantic rivalry of Princess Tara and her maid Maya, former childhood friends who each fall in love with the King Raj Singh. Winner of the Independent Spirit Award for Best Cinematography, this erotic drama is as gorgeous as it is sensual.

Summertime (2015)

This romantic lesbian drama almost sounds like a parody of French art films. In 1971, Carole, a Paris-based Spanish teacher and feminist, falls in love with Delphine, the daughter of two rural farmers. When Delphine returns home to care for her sick father, Carole follows her, bringing with her a new set of problems for the couple. The sex scenes are tender and passionate, with ample nudity thrown in throughout, but that’s secondary to the surprisingly beautiful story. This material could easily get heavy-handed, but director Catherine Corsini, who also wrote the script with Laurette Polmanss, has crafted a love story worth remembering long after you stop looking for nudity on Netflix.

About Cherry (2012)

Films about pornography often try to either warn you about the dangers of the industry or the dangers of wild, carefree sex. About Cherry does neither, a fact that frustrated film critics when it first came out but sets it apart from other movies about the skin-flick industry. Angelina is an 18-year-old girl about to finish high school. When her boyfriend suggests that she sell some nude photographs to deal with a brutally unstable home life, the money becomes her first step into the world of adult film. Taking the stage name Cherry, Angelina moves to San Francisco to make a name for herself, finding danger and love along the way. Elevated by great performances from Lili Taylor, James Franco, and Heather Graham in support roles, Ashley Hinshaw shines as the titular Cherry. About Cherry’s major strength is its slow burn narrative. At no point is the film rushing to the next sex scene, though there are plenty to find. Instead, it asks you to take a serious look at the early days of a fictional rising star.

All About E (2015)

LGBTQ films are often forced to be important due to the issues that face the community, but in some ways, the most telling signs of progress are representation in standard traditional plotlines. You’ve seen movies like All About E before where someone in their mid-20s comes across some money, takes it, and runs from the people who own it. This just happens to be a film where it involves two lesbians instead of male and female actors. There’s no heterosexual sex, none of the cheap shock tactics that have caused controversies on TV shows, and the film was directed by a gay woman, so the lovemaking isn’t a man’s idea of what it looks like. In fact, Pride.com ranked All About E’s central sex scene the 2nd most Oscar-Worthy Lesbian Sex Scene from 2015. You’ll have to wait until the end of the film to see why, but it’s easily among the hottest on Netflix. Without making a statement, All About E makes a statement.

Elena Undone (2010)

Forbidden romances are an erotic trope for a reason; they’re damn hot. Peyton and Elena are opposites: Peyton is a famous lesbian writer, and Elena a mother and pastor’s wife. After running into one another a few times the two strike up a fast friendship, finding comfort in each other as they slowly grow closer. When an afternoon visit sparks a full-blown affair, Elena is forced to weigh her duties to her family with the newfound emotions that have taken root in her heart. At times melodramatic, Elena Undone strives to gives all of its characters human traits, even down to Elena’s pastor husband. Its sex scenes aren’t softcore porn, but the smoldering emotion that drives them coupled with the realistic approach to lesbian sex elevate them above most of the competition. Adultery is almost always sad. At least in this film’s case, it’s also hot.
