During a parents’ weekend at their university in Illinois, Mia Gillespie and her friends decided to show the hijinks their moms were getting up to in the now-viral TikTok.
In the video, the five moms all lip-sync to “Potential Breakup Song” by Aly & AJ, obviously having a really great time. Something about the video and sheer amount of fun the moms are having in it really stole people’s hearts, and while Gillespie told BuzzFeed she was only expecting a couple of thousand views, the TikTok now has millions of likes.
Since then, the moms have been dueted with all over the place as TikTokers try to work out things like what shoes they’re wearing or what kind of dog they’d own.
And, naturally, the girls had to duet with their own mothers as well. Gotta complete the circle.
Gillespie and her friends also put together a video about their moms, featuring career notes as well as car and drink preferences. All to the sounds of “Potential Breakup Song,” of course.
