If you’re a celebrity gamer and you need surgery, there’s probably no better news to receive than knowing the doctors recognize and appreciate who you are. Maybe, if you’re like popular streamer Shroud, those doctors will hook you up to make sure your recovery is as easy as possible.

That’s apparently what happened to Shroud, who has nearly 6.1 million Twitch followers and 4.5 million YouTube subscribers.

After a scooter accident last month left him with an injured shoulder and elbow, Shroud—whose real name is Michael Grzesiek—said somebody on his surgeon’s team recognized him and told the doctor who he was and what he did for a living.

That’s when the surgeon got innovative.

“They really quickly Googled your typical posture when you’re playing on keyboard and mouse with your elbow. So then my surgeon changed his procedure and instead of giving me a straight incision, he gave me this rounded incision around my elbow,” Shroud said Monday during a live stream.

“Instead of going straight down on my elbow through my triceps, he did like a ‘U’ so that I wouldn’t be resting on my incision when I play. On top of that, he moved the metal plate one or two inches higher so I wouldn’t be resting on the metal plate when I play as well.”

Shroud’s audience, which made him the third most popular Twitch streamer of 2018, surely appreciated the gesture.

Especially when Shroud, only a few days post-surgery, tweeted this.

Shroud hurt himself in mid-March during a scooter accident when he reportedly hit his brakes too hard and flew over the handlebars onto the asphalt below. Somehow, he purposely managed to avoid landing on his right arm (the one that controls the mouse when he plays) but hurt his left side. He reportedly fractured a piece of his elbow, tore a ligament, and gave himself a nasty case of road rash.

But he’s now on the road to recovery and being helped by those who know how to use a scalpel.

“[The surgeon] purposely moved the incision and the metal plate position to comfort my gaming needs,” Shroud said with a laugh.

Which leads us to this new axiom: Find you someone who will innovate a surgery just to make both of you happy.
