Sometimes we find our obsessions, and sometimes our obsessions find us.

New York-based Upright Citizens Brigade writer and performer Nicole Silverberg never expected she’d spend a year collecting screenshots of Refinery29 articles about Oreos. But that’s exactly what she did.

The strange wealth of Oreo-based content caught Silverberg’s attention about a year ago when she was casually browsing the site.

“They had a video about a mess-free way to eat an Oreo—which is insane—and the image was a woman holding a fork with an Oreo. What scenario would you be in where you’d need a mess-free way to eat an Oreo? I’ve never been with a fork and an Oreo in the same room,” Silverberg told the Daily Dot.

When Silverberg went back to find the article the next day her search revealed an absurd number of Oreo-themed content.

Silverberg noticed that most of the articles were written by a woman named Zoe Bain, who dutifully reports Oreo flavor after Oreo flavor, even when the flavors debut mere weeks, or even days, apart.

Fascinated by the articles, which tow the line in tone between Oreo worship and Oreo exasperation, Silverberg began obsessively collecting screenshots.

She then uploaded them to her Facebook. The articles vacillate between being wildly mundane and conspicuously enthusiastic.

As for Bain herself, Silverberg wants her to know she has the utmost respect for her.

“I love this woman. I think she’s doing great work and I don’t think anyone could do it better than she’s doing it,” Silverberg said. “I did make a collage and tweeted it to Zoe Bain. I just wanted her to know that I’m a fan.”

When Bain responded that she’d have to get the collage framed for her desk, Silverberg was thrilled.

“That was a huge accomplishment for me.”
