Pokémon Crystal, the game that first introduced exciting elements to the Pokémon franchise 17 years ago, will soon be available for Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo announced that Crystal will join the other Game Boy Color games on the console next month on Jan. 26.

When released nearly two decades ago on Dec. 14, Pokémon Crystal was monumental. An expanded version of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver, the game was the first in the Pokémon franchise to allow players to choose between a boy or girl playable character, include animated Pokémon sprites and a battle tower for more fighting opportunities. It also was the first to be exclusively offered on Game Boy Color, moving players interested in the game away from Game Boy to the upgraded system.

For 2018, the game will finally be available on Nintendo‘s newest platform for $9.99 in eShop.

Pokémon Crystal will also be compatible with Pokémon Bank, the paid service that allows players to transfer their Pokémon from older versions of the game to newer ones. So that means you can catch the mythical Pokémon Celebi, (which players can encounter in an event after completing the game) and battle with it in other Pokémon titles!
