In March, a 15-year-old boy named Logan Brown was killed in a car accident caused by a man whose blood alcohol level, according to police, was four times more than the legal limit. Living in Indiana, Brown’s favorite player, according to his grandmother, was former Indianapolis Colts and current Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.
On Tuesday, the day Brown would have turned 16, the Brown family received quite a birthday present for Logan. Because Manning sent them this.
And this.
The reason Manning heard about Brown, his love of Manning, and the loss of his life was due to Brown’s grandmother, Gayle Ricketts, who wrote a letter to Manning letting him know that a boy he would never meet had loved him so much.
“As a grandmother, I felt like I should let Peyton know this young man idolized him and what he meant in his life,” Ricketts told 14 WFIE in Evandville, Indiana.
After the family received the care package, Logan’s dad, Charles, said, “To take the time to send something back to a situation in Evansville, Indiana, that he probably doesn’t know anything about,” said Brown. “It’s important to see that they’re humans and for these other kids to see you never forget where you come from.”
