Aw, look at little Momo-chan!
Some of the stuff we post on Instagram here in the U.S. could be considered odd, but it really doesn’t hold a candle to posting pictures of your baby with a peach for a butt.
That’s what’s happening in Japan right now if you check out the 桃尻 hashtag, which is Japanese for peach butt. It looks like one mom snapped a pic as an entry for a contest held by Japanese photography company Kodomono Photo (the theme is memorable photos of children).
Since her post, Japanese Instagram has followed suit on the adorable idea. Now babies with peach butts are everywhere. Japan has long enjoyed the notion that peaches look like little rear ends, and China even went as far as to sell a set of special-edition peaches with tiny panties on them. Phone charms are also available, should you want one as an icebreaker at parties (“Wow, does your phone have a peach wearing a thong on it?”).
Ladies and gentlemen, the beauty of Japan in full bloom. May you cherish it.
