Amazon’s upcoming animated series Undone is making this time travel story deeply personal.
The trailer introduces us to Alma (Alita: Battle Angel’s Rosa Salazar), a 28-year-old who’s bored with her life until a car accident puts her in the hospital. But in the aftermath of the accident, she starts seeing her dead father (Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk), who tells her that he didn’t die in an accident, and she can use newfound abilities to travel back in time to save him from being murdered.
Although the Undone trailer doesn’t get into any of the larger implications of time travel or going back in time to prevent something as monumental as someone’s death, there’s still a lot going for it. The animation helps shape that world, giving us both familiar faces in the actors we recognize and the perfect frame to help convey just how trippy things might get.
Undone debuts on Amazon Prime Video Sept. 13.
