Today, President Donald Trump met with students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 people were killed last week, to discuss gun control measures. Included in the meeting were students from both Newtown and Columbine, two of America’s most infamous school massacres.
During the meeting, Trump suggested America adopt a gun violence proposal from a Facebook meme. In talking about putting armed guards at schools, Trump said about a policy being discussed by “a lot of people”: “You would have a lot of people, they’d be armed, they’d be ready, they’re professionals, they may be Marines that left the Marines, left the Army, left the Air Force, and they’re very adept at doing that.”
News: Trump now appears to be endorsing the Fox News-promoted idea of sending veterans into schools with guns. He says ex-Marine, ex-Air Force people could "be spread evenly throughout the school," and that could "solve your problem."

That suggestion comes from a very popular Facebook meme that’s been making the rounds in the wake of Parkland.

Trump, who has been known to tweet memes, is apparently now proposing a policy based on them. That said, he did come out in favor of raising the purchase age for certain types of gun.

He says he's going to go "very strong" into "age of purchase." (Feinstein has proposed raising the minimum age for AR-15 purchases from 18 to 21.)
