President Obama just put his money where his mouth is when it comes to free speech. While speaking during a Hillary Clinton rally in North Carolina on Friday, the commander in chief defended a Donald Trump supporter dressed in military regalia and holding a pro-Trump sign.

He repeatedly urged Clinton supporters to be quiet, stay focused, and ultimately respect the action of the demonstrator in attendance.

“You’ve got an older gentleman who’s supporting his candidate. He’s not doing nothing. You don’t have to worry about him,” Obama stated as the booing intensified. After he once again quieted the audience, the president gave a brief list of reasons why it was perfectly fine to protest the Clinton rally in favor of another candidate:

First of all, we live in a country that respects free speech. Second of all, it looks like maybe he might’ve served in our military and we’ve gotta respect that. Third of all, he was elderly and we’ve gotta respect our elders, and fourth of all, don’t boo. Vote.
