Game of Thrones isn’t back until Spring 2019, but it appears that President Donald Trump wants to ruin the show for all its liberal fans, by using a show-themed meme to announce sanctions.

Well, huh.

One might think a vaguely threatening “sanctions” post, which could apply to a number of countries, wouldn’t be the most professional way to enact laws that could cripple a country’s economy and endanger the lives of its citizens. But that appears to be the strategy, as the White House’s official Twitter account was equally cryptic in its quote tweet of the president.

It was only in an earlier tweet where the administration named the country it was tweeting about.

It’s Iran. Maybe that’s something the president should have mentioned in his meme? Twitter sure seems to think so.

And while the president is free to light the internet on fire whenever he wants, the analogy he’s using to do it is a tad off. Is Trump siding with evil here?

As nonsensical and dumb as everything is these days, this somehow managed to reach a new level.

There were also a lot of Game of Thrones references made in response to the tweet. Did you know a petulant, impulsive person is a lot like that guy Joffery? Everyone was inclined to point that out.

Hopefully, Iran has been notified in a more formal manner.
