Our first glimpse of the Studio Ghibli theme park is here, and it looks incredible.
Studio Ghibli showed off concept art of the park, which will be built at the site of the 2005 World Fair near Nagoya, Japan, (and home to a life-size version of the house from My Neighbor Totoro) to members of the press on Wednesday. Like many of the films made by Studio Ghibli, the concept art was packed with an incredible level of detail.

Aspects of fans’ favorite movies are already evident in the concept designs. For instance, you can see Jiji’s face painted on a spinning teacup ride. The top of Howl’s Castle that you can potentially walk into on top of an archway that guests can use to enter and exit the area.
The whimsical touches of Studio Ghibli are on full display, whether it’s the kind of colorful details on a staircase leading to a building called the “Cat Bus” or a large spider that guests can apparently climb on top of. While this is only one taste of the park, it already appears that there will be plenty for fans to explore.

According to the Japan Times, the Studio Ghibli theme park is now set to open in 2022.
