Taking into account Gandalf’s known habit of concealing magical spells in his underwear, it’s still a tough call, but one Stephen Colbert was more than eager to tackle in this week’s edition of Fright Night Fights.

Compounding matters, the magical pair had backup: Transformer’s Optimus Prime and Voltron, the latter of which is not a sentient being, but controlled by a team of ace astronauts.

The Late Show segment, which utilizes Twitter’s voting feature to determine the victor, has already received more than 21,000 votes. Only hours remain in the contest, but the outcome appears to be a foregone conclusion: At the time of this writing, Gandalf and Optimus Prime were beating the life out of the Hogwarts headmaster and his Super Robot.

Only one question remains: Who will take on the responsibility of defending the universe once the Autobots start chopping up Voltron for spare parts?
