But let’s not overlook some of the contributions fans are making, especially in the way of Star Wars webcomics.

From hilarious parodies to alternate universes, these fan comics offer a fun, free way for you to get your Star Wars fix. Here are four webcomics you should definitely check out.

1) Darths & Droids

What if Star Wars was a role-playing game being run by a game master? That’s what Darths & Droids explores. Inspired by the webcomic DM of the Rings, this screencap comic follows all six movies and is set in an alternate universe where there is no Star Wars. The players are supposed to just be following the story and setting the fictional game master has come up with so far. This leads to comics that offer a fun look at how people would react to the situations of the franchise without really having any set ideas about the universe already.

The comic updates regularly three times a week.

2) Blue Milk Special

No fan can forget the blue milk Luke Skywalker, Uncle Owen, and Aunt Beru enjoyed on Tatooine in A New Hope. This webcomic fittingly pays homage to the fictional beverage with its name. Blue Milk Special started in 2009 and parodies the original trilogy era. Familiar scenes are given a hilarious twist and will have you seeing these classic characters in a new light. Plus you might see a few other familiar faces from science fiction and pop culture making an appearance.

It’s updated weekly and written and illustrated by Rod and Leanne Hannah.

3) Imperial Entanglements

There’s a lot going on in BioWare’s MMO role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic (TOR), so it seems only natural that those stories have inspired one of its players to create a parody comic. Imperial Entanglements follows the Sith story from the game, focusing on the journey of “a fatally upbeat future Sith Lord” and an Imperial intelligence officer trying to save the Sith Empire. With a premise like that, how can we resist?

Its creator is Ilayas, a gamer who has apparently played TOR since the beta. If you haven’t played the game, Ilayas warns that you might get spoiled on some of the Sith storylines, but any Star Wars fan or MMO player will get a kick out of the comic’s story and jokes. New comics are posted each Monday.

4) Star Wars Destinies

Before fans learned recently that Ahsoka Tano was still alive for Star Wars Rebels and would be appearing in season two of the animated series, we were left to wonder what had happened to the young Jedi. Star Wars Destinies offered us a glimpse of what might have happened. The webcomic continues to explore the story of Ahsoka after season five of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Even though we’ll now be getting a canon version of events, this comic is still worth a read for fans.

It offers an interesting look at what Ahsoka decided to do after leaving the Jedi Order that you won’t want to miss. Updates to the comic are made every Tuesday and Thursday.
