Prepare for dark, intense episode of ‘Sherlock’ this Sunday

Following the shocking events of Sherlock‘s fourth season premiere, it looks like we’re in for another dark episode.

Inspired by the classic Holmes story The Dying Detective, the new episode is titled “The Lying Detective,” and co-stars Toby Jones as the villain Culverton Smith. If it follows the same idea as the short story, Sherlock will fake a terminal illness as part of a scheme to prove that Smith is a murderer.

“The Lying Detective” airs on Jan. 8. Expect some tense scenes between John and Sherlock, whose friendship was torn apart by tragedy in the season premiere.
