The Internet is filled with all sorts of delightful and time saving lifehacks. From learning how to turn your freezer into a delicious frozen candy machine to peeling a hard boiled egg in under 60 seconds, there is truly no end to life-improving knowledge that awaits you online.

But forget cutting watermelon like a fruit ninja. How do you remedy a mechanical error as complex as transmission failure? Well if you’re anything like redditor Obiektyw1855, you grab some chains and a few tubes of PVC pipe and create the most simplistic, yet mind boggling backup system available.

Since the transmission failure prevents him from being able to put his car in reverse, he decided to craft this makeshift device for use until he can make the necessary repairs.

If you too want to experiment with fun new ways to back it on up, never fear. This mechanical mad scientist has created a YouTube video that demonstrates how to construct your own reversal device
