Three women suffered second- and third-degree burns after an apparent cooking oil attack following an argument that started on Instagram.
Myzelle Chantel Armstrong, 17, of Smyrna, Ala., Zawadi Athenaiis Clark, 20, of Marietta, Ga., and Mykhal Antoinette Tait, 20, of Atlanta each face four counts of felony battery with intent to disfigure.
They are accused of dousing three victims with hot oil, causing burns on the arms and legs of Ashley Hardy, Jasmine Ragland, and Shatericka Barrino. Police also said Armstrong and Tait threatened the women with baseball bat, while a fourth victim was not burned.
The women all met at an apartment complex in Smyrna over Instagram messages exchanged earlier in the day, the Marietta Daily Journal reported.
Hardy and Ragland claimed they jumped back in their car when they saw the accused women carrying a pot of oil and a baseball bat. The defendants allegedly pried open Hardy and Ragland’s car door with the baseball bat and threw the oil inside.
Hardy, who claims to have been at the complex to support a friend who was feuding with someone else on Instagram, told WSB-TV that she “was just in shock because I didn’t believe it was happening to me at all.”
She now struggles to “walk, bathe, just get up to use the bathroom, anything” due to her third-degree burns, and now faces skin grafts or surgery.
