April the Giraffe has been wowing the internet for the past month as she labored through the final weeks of her pregnancy, but for a time, a woman in a giraffe mask temporarily usurped that attention by throwing on a giraffe mask and then giving birth for all the viral world to see.
Now that both have safely delivered their offspring—the real-life giraffe did it in front of an audience of about 1 million livestream watchers last weekend—it makes sense that April and her human counterpart, Erin Dietrich, would meet and share in the joyousness of their post-delivery euphoria.
Thus, Erin and her baby boy, Porter, traveled from South Carolina to Animal Adventure Park in New York for a meeting of the minds. Or just a quick kiss between a giraffe and a baby dressed like a giraffe.

The mother of four and Porter were invited by Inside Edition to New York to visit April, and the photo opportunities were just too delicious to miss.

As for whether April and Erin will be getting together with their newborns soon for another playdate… hey, it’s possible.
“We’re buddies; we’re companions,” Erin told Inside Edition. “She just doesn’t know it.”
