Redditors ponder a day filled with ones

On the eleventh month of the eleventh year in the eleventh hour at the eleventh minute, what'cha up to?

Calendars and twelve hour clocks read the same only twice in a century—twelve times if you’re not a stickler about leading zeros.

This year’s moment is coming soon: Eleven eleven AM, in the eleventh month of the eleventh year of the century. Or: 11:11 a.m. 11/11/11.

And social news Reddit wants to know. What will you be doing?

A thread asking that question rose near the front page of Reddit’s r/AskReddit section yesterday. That’s a full ten days before the not-so-fateful day — apparently the right amount of time for redditors to get their affairs in order before they do nothing.

Because, evidently, they’re not so concerned about the one.

“Same thing I do any time one of those interesting ‘one in a lifetime’ date-alignment things happen:” redditor denor wrote. “Forget about it until shortly afterward, realize that I’ve missed it, and then shrug.

Most redditors figured they’d be too busy playing the highly-anticipated game Skyrim — which also releases on Nov. 11 — to even notice the clock change.

Still, some did take the event a little more seriously. A few noted they were getting married on that date. Others observed that the it fell on Veterans Day in the U.S. and Remembrance Day in the U.K.

“I might be at a parade. Or drinking. We’ll see how the day goes,” MisguidedChild wrote.

What will you be doing on 11:11 a.m. 11/11/11? At the Daily Dot, we’ll probably be investigating our 11 day-old beards.

Either that, or we’ll be doing exactly the same thing suggested by redditor LFK1236: “Reddit.”
