Thank god the Internet exists. How else would we know that we’ve been slicing bagels, cutting pineapples, peeling apples, and dicing watermelon wrong our entire lives? But the Web’s corrective knowledge isn’t just relegated to foods. The net can help you better your life in all respects, even the mentally circuitous act of multiplication.

Thanks to Buzzfeed, you no longer have to look like a buffoon counting on your fingers to do some quick multiplication. It’s a relatively simple trick that takes all those confusing numbers out of your head and translates them onto paper. After drawing a few quick lines, you’ll be able to determine the product of 23 x 42 in no time.

This shortcut will astound even the nerdiest of your friends and it’ll wean your brain off of your smartphone calculator. Thanks, Internet!
