The games run the gamut from actual retro games to newer ports and compilations. If you have an Android smartphone, you can download a selection of classic games on mobile. For people interested in playing on retro hardware, you can buy old consoles and accessories like extra controllers. Serious collectors can find plastic protective cases for Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 game boxes.

In terms of apparel, the Retro Zone offers shirts inspired by games like Asteroids and companies like Atari. The toys are mostly new figures based on classic gaming characters like Mario and Sonic. The books section showcases newer releases about classic games, like The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia Deluxe Edition.

Major players in classic gaming like Nintendo, Square Enix, and Atari have their own pages on the Retro Zone. Here, you can find all kinds of products related to their classic releases, as well as new installments of classic series.

Companies cashing in on gaming nostalgia is nothing new. Nintendo has made loads of cash by repackaging its classic games time and again. But Amazon’s Retro Zone suggests one of the biggest players in retail thinks old games have a strong future too.

To help get the word out about the Retro Zone, Amazon is running a Twitter promotion to give away five SNES Classic Editions.
