Fans think Ice Spice is in trouble following UMG pulling all their artists’ songs from TikTok

The music industry and TikTok have a strong symbiotic relationship, so musicians were left stunned when Universal Music Group made good on its promise of removing its artists’ songs on TikTok, citing the app’s purported attempts to “bully” it into accepting a lower deal in an open letter.

Music from UMG makes up around a third of the music industry and includes megastars like The Weeknd, Drake, and Taylor Swift—but it’s Ice Spice that fans are the most concerned about.

After originally rising to fame while featuring on PinkPantheress’ viral hit “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2,” Ice Spice has gone on to have several viral songs on the app, including “Munch.” She’s also known for participating in viral trends like the “Buss It” challenge.

But where does Ice Spice go from here? Numerous TikTokers are left scratching their heads as they all ponder that same question.

“Has anyone checked in on Ice Spice and Yeat?” creator Noah Glenn Carter asked. “Out of all the artists that have had their music pulled from the app, those are the two that least need it to happen. Ice Spice is already fighting for her life in people’s comments.”

Carter was specifically referring to a video by Buck, who after posting a joke about Ice Spice, was left shocked by her appearance in his comments. In the original video, Buck said “today is a good day” and that he was smiling because “we’re finally gonna witness the downfall of Ice Spice.”

But based on her reaction in the comments, Ice Spice failed to see the funny side, as she quipped back, “Thought you were smiling cos you finally got a job.”

This led to an uproar among commenters mocking her for responding, and even extended to brands getting involved, with the official Iceland account writing: “She took that personal.”

“She’s in the chat ya’ll,” another commenter added.

“TikTok beef seem so random,” a third commenter wrote, while a fourth joked, “I want this beef to continue.”

Representatives for Buck and Ice Spice didn’t immediately respond to the Daily Dot’s request for comment via email.
