Former Ku Klux Klan leader and Louisiana senate candidate David Duke took a victory lap on Twitter following the victory of Republican president-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday.

“GOD BLESS DONALD TRUMP!” Duke wrote. “It’s time to do the right thing, it’s time to TAKE AMERICA BACK!!!”

Duke’s endorsement of Trump in February stirred controversy, with some citing it as evidence that Trump’s campaign rhetoric was resonating with a white nationalist movement in the United States.

“Voting for these people, voting against Donald Trump at this point, is really treason to your heritage,” Duke said at the time, according to BuzzFeed News

Trump secured enough electoral votes to win the presidency on Tuesday, scoring key victories in battleground states such as Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
