President Donald Trump insists a border wall (or fence) between the U.S. and Mexico will be “beautiful,” but Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) wants to remind people of the natural beauty it would interfere with.
“Where would they build the wall?” O’Rourke tweeted on Friday. “Whose home or ranch or farm are they going to take to build it? Which communities and habitats are they going to destroy? Reply with your best pictures of the border—let the rest of the country see what’s at stake.”

O’Rourke, who failed to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in the midterm elections last month, made his post as the possibility of a government shutdown loomed over the Senate’s hesitation to pass the deal allocating $5.7 billion for the wall.
His call for photos did not go unanswered. By the time of writing, the tweet had racked up more than 62,o00 likes and hundreds of Twitter users’ pictures from the border. They showed scenic landscapes, touring families, kayakers, and animals.
