Far-right says Democrats already working to impeach Biden, install Harris

They're convinced the media is in the bag for a Harris presidency.

In these conspiracy theory-laden times, it can be difficult to keep up. One day the president is claiming mail-in ballots are being thrown in ditches, the next there’s an alleged conspiracy to switch votes to President-elect Joe Biden, then 106 Republican lawmakers are filing an amicus brief asking the United States Supreme Court to make Trump president for life.

Okay, that last one isn’t entirely true. But the latest right wing conspiracy is even further afield.

Conservatives are now claiming that the media wants Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, currently a Democratic senator for California, to be president. So, they allege, the media is covering new revelations about a federal criminal investigation into Hunter Biden’s tax affairs in an effort to get his father impeached. In this event, Harris could become president.

It’s a stretch, to say the least. That hasn’t stopped conspiracy-minded conservatives from latching onto it, however.

“The Democrat elites want Hunter Biden to be indicted so they can impeach Joe Biden and push Kamala into the Oval to usher in the Communist ¡Revolucion!” tweeted former Pennsylvania Republican lawmaker Dean Browning.

Dilbert comic creator Scott Adams theorized that the “switcheroo is on schedule.”

The baseless, ridiculous theory continues circulating.

Biden and Harris will be inaugurated on Jan. 20. Democrats do hold a majority in the House so they are free to impeach Biden any time after that.

But the conspiracy theory hits a snag there. If Republicans don’t want Harris to be president, they still control the Senate and can prevent Biden’s removal.
