Travis Chambers knows the Internet can’t resist a gorgeous, mathematically-challenged blonde.
So while his wife, Chelsea, puzzled over a math problem in the car, Chambers took out his camera to film it for YouTube.
In the video, which has been viewed nearly two million times, Chambers proposed this problem: If a car is traveling 80 miles per hour, how many miles can the car travel within one hour? He insists he came to the answer, “80 miles,” using “math and science,” but Chelsea isn’t convinced.
As Chambers snickers at his wife’s expense, Chelsea develops a bizarre formula based on the car’s rotating wheels and her own speed as a runner.
Chambers’ knowing glance at the camera around 1:13 indicates that he recorded the video to make fun of his wife. When Reddit noticed the video this week, their responses picked up Chambers’ lead.
“I feel like/want to believe that she is acting like a hot dumb blonde on tape to get money out of youtube through a viral video,” wrote redditor PowerFury.
Others wrote that they felt only pity for Chambers.
“This guy knows his wife is a fucking idiot and makes fun of her for the amusement of others on the Internet,” wrote redditor NeedlessKane. “I think he’s making the best of a tragic/hilarious situation that is his marriage.”
However, Chambers seems to have had a change of heart. He’s now disabled comments on the video and locked his Twitter account, where he condescendingly wrote on Monday that he’s promised Chelsea a “new shopping budget” in exchange for her viral fame.
“Good guy scumbag husband? Disables comments so people don’t make fun of his wife. Posted video to make fun of his wife,” commented redditor DangerousDac about the development.
Looks like Chelsea isn’t the dumb blonde her husband made her out to be. Or maybe she finally put two and two together.
