As soon as Taylor Swift released the video for her comeback single “Look What You Made Me Do,” people started pointing out the similarities to Lemonade clips. Commenters said the costumes and camera shots in the Swift video recalled those from Beyoncé’s “Formation” video. But was it actually Bey ripping off Swift?

“LWYMMD” video director Joseph Kahn has been adamant that the similarities were just coincidence.

Now, Kahn has said outright in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that he thinks Beyoncé actually “copied” a Taylor Swift outfit from the Bad Blood video.

“I suddenly understood the conflict of what’s going on in society and what battle rap serves, what prism to look at the movie through,” Kahn said of the criticism he’s faced about the video. “It’s not ‘Formation’ at all. They try to say she’s wearing a black crop top and Beyoncé wore a black crop top. But they don’t realize in 2015 in ‘Bad Blood,’ Taylor Swift was wearing a black crop top. I really do think, by the way, that Beyoncé copied ‘Bad Blood.’”

Kahn followed up the statement—which, to be fair, could be interpreted as tongue in cheek—with a tweet saying he “couldn’t give a fuck about tank tops.”
