Stranger Things season 3 debuts in less than two months, and Netflix offered up another teaser trailer to remind us it is definitely the summer of 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana. And everyone is horny.
In the clip, Billy (Dacre Montgomery), season 2’s bully, has taken a job as a lifeguard at the local pool, a plot point referenced in the show’s official trailer. He’s got all the ladies, including a reawakened Mrs. Wheeler, posing and thirsting next to the pool, and his walk to the lifeguard stand is soundtracked by the Cars’ “Moving in Stereo,” perhaps a nod to Fast Times at Ridgemont High‘s infamous pool scene.
As shown in the official trailer, Billy also has a nasty rash, which led fans to theorize that he’s the “new” monster, or at least has been infected by it. We’re getting some strong Cronenberg vibes for season 3.
In 2017, when Montgomery was defending his character from claims of racism, he said Billy would be getting a more “sinister” subplot beyond potentially sharing a bubble bath with Mrs. Wheeler. One of the alleged episodes titles is “The Case of the Missing Lifeguard.”
Stranger Things returns on July 4.
