Between China‘s stock market crash, the New York Stock Exchange freeze, and the thousands of grounded United Airlines planes, Wednesday felt a bit like the opening scenes of an apocalypse movie. And thanks to Stephen Colbert, we now have a report from an alternate universe where those events really did mark the beginning of the end.

Colbert posted a video from his post-apocalyptic bunker/office, surrounded by emergency supplies and supported by an intern dressed as one of Mad Max: Fury Road‘s War Boys. He’s clearly making the most of his vacation time between The Colbert Report and taking over The Late Show this fall.

For the full effect, we recommend following this video with Molly Crabapple’s Guardian article from the dystopian wasteland of New York’s financial district. The end is nigh!
