Breathless YouTube gossiper Michael Buckley wants to break out from the computer screen to the television screen: He’s trying to win a guest hosting spot with Kelly Ripa with a little help from his fans.
Buckley, host of popular YouTube gossip session “What the Buck?!,” has made it into the top 10 semifinalists round but is looking for votes to make it into the top five. If Buckley wins the next round, he will fly to New York City to compete in challenges to win an opportunity to co-host with Ripa for a day on the national morning chat show Live with Kelly.
“I am so grateful, you guys,” an overly excited Buckley exclaimed on a recent edition of his show. “I’m so excited and I’d love to sit there with Kelly and I know many of you would love to see me there.”
He’s using his large Twitter and YouTube following to garner votes. On Twitter, where he has 615,000 followers, he’s been tweeting at fans thanking them for voting for him. Fans on his YouTube channel are filling it with notes of good luck and well wishes that his dreams come true.
Voting ends Wednesday at 3pm ET, and the winners will announced on Thursday’s edition of Live with Kelly.
If Buckley doesn’t win, he can console himself with the the fact that his YouTube channel is soon approaching one million subscribers.
