Nintendo reveals a bunch of new games in surprise video

Dr. Mario and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon highlight the list of announcements.

Nintendo revealed a new slate of games in a surprise video today, teasing the upcoming Nintendo World Championships to be held this year at E3.

The Dr. Mario and Mario/Sonic mashup franchises are getting new entries with Dr. Mario Miracle Cure on 3DS, and an Olympic-themed Mario vs. Sonic on both 3DS and Wii U

Pokémon fans have a new Super Mystery Dungeon game to look forward to, and Nintendo provided a first look at Little Battlers Experience, an anime tie-in for the 3DS. RPG fans will be happy to hear about a new Bravely Second game.  

This Nintendo Direct reveals new, free content released today for Splatoon that includes a surprise for NES Zapper fans, and the reveal of an official start date and time for the Nintendo World Championships

Nintendo has moved its marketing strategy away from physical events and embraced digital advertising with Nintendo Direct broadcasts. Last year at E3, Nintendo skipped holding a live press conference altogether and instead went with a extended Nintendo Direct spot. Considering the cost of and logistical work involved in hosting an event at E3, going digital made a lot of sense for a lot of reasons.
