Want to read Reddit but don’t have the time? Our daily Reddit Digest highlights the most interesting or important discussions from around the social news site—every morning.

  • There have been a spate of IRC chat log leaks recently, mostly perpetrated by redditor sushisushisushi. The latest includes a chat between Reddit general manager Erik Martin and influential moderator and Reddit comment celebrity andrewsmith1986. The two discuss r/ShitRedditSays and the recent ban of jailbait-style subreddits. What will the next Sushileak contain? Apparently some nuggets about how the admins plan to “deal” with Something Awful, according to sushiushisushi. (/r/SubredditDrama)

  • Redditor FreshlyCutThrowaway just underwent an adult circumcision. Ask him anything. (/r/IAmA)

  • Do Dolphins have dialects? Yes, as do humpback wales. (/r/askscience)

  • Why is your cable bill so high? The reason may not be what you suspect, though it is remarkably obvious: “You get a bill every month that says ‘TV’ on the outside, and you pay it, and then you have to watch ads for stuff you feel like you already paid for. That sucks. But maybe it’ll make it easier to swallow if you remember that bill you get every month is for the wire in the ground and not the content on your television.” fetchthestickboy’s whole comment on the costs of the cable industry is actually quite interesting. (/r/bestof)

  • After an r/AskReddit thread, redditors launch a new subreddit devoted to surveys. “Again, I know the process isn’t entirely scientific,” redditor okayyeah, who created the subreddit, writes, essentially admitting its futility. That hasn’t stopped 1,000 people from signing up to r/sureveysays in 19 hours, however. (/r/AskReddit)

  • A black redditor launches an interesting discussion on racism on Reddit. “In the end, I think I identified one thing you can’t talk about on reddit constructively – white privilege. It steps on too many toes.” (/r/TheoryOfReddit)
